AI/400 stands for “AS/400 Application Integration”.

AI/400 is a communication bridge between AS/400 programs and PC applications and databases. It provides AS/400 developers with access to remote resources that are not normally available to the midrange developer.

Any application that supports the Microsoft Component Object Model (COM), Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) or Windows Messaging can be accessed. Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL’s) could also be used to integrate with application functionality.
